Managing those pesky little cravings is quite possibly one of the toughest challenges people changing their eating styles face. It’s difficult to avoid that cookie that’s calling out to you “Eat me! Eat me!” But don’t worry, even the worst of cravings can be managed. ??Here are 4 tips to help you ward off your next craving.
Don’t get rid of temptation, destroy it! Do you still have that tub of ice cream chilling in the back of your freezer? Get rid of it by brutally destroying it! Run water through it, run it over with your car or beat it with a hammer. You’ll feel empowered and won’t be tempted to indulge any longer.
Stay minty fresh.? Brush your teeth more often or gargle with mouthwash. Having a clean mouth will keep you from casual snacking. Molly Gee, RD, of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston says, “When you have a fresh, clean mouth, you don’t want to mess it up.”
Drink water, lots of it!?When you’re craving something sweet and it seems like nothing else will suffice, drink a large cup of water. Your craving might have been brought on by dehydration. You’ll forget all about whatever food seemed so desirable a minute ago.
Just give it a few minutes. Cravings WILL pass! Just wait it out. Keep yourself busy by watching a movie or doing some chores. The craving will subside by the time you’re done.
Cravings happen! Everyone get’s them. It’s inevitable. Don’t worry about it, just relax and work through it. You’ll do great!
